Wildlife in Africa
The cautious Kudu antelope lives on the savannah, in bushlands and in woodlands in eastern Africa and in southern Africa.
There are two subspecies: Greater kudu and lesser kudu. The horns of the greater kudu are spectacular and both subsecies are great jumpers.

Etosha National Park |
Originally, the largest wildlife reserve in Africa, covering about 80 000 sq. km back in 1907 when it included most of Kaokoland and the Etosha pan. Present day Etosha National Park is a wilderness of about a quarter that size and a popular safari destination.

Short history:
1907:Procalimed as game reserve no 2. appr. 80000 sq. km
1958:Game reserve no 2 changes name to Etosha game park.
1957:Etosha game park receives the status of a national park. Size is reduced to 55000 sq. km
1970:The size of Etosha is further reduced to 22270 sq. km

Outside the Etosha np
Etosha national park is situated in northern Namibia.
Looking to the south-west and upwards you will find the areas called Damaraland and Kaokoland, further west the Skeleton coast. In the south-east lies the Waterberg Plateau.
