The Gelada monkey lives on the alpine grasslands of Ethiopia.
Although only found in Ethiopia today, fossil specimens of the gelada have been found in Congo, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and both in europe (Spain) and asia (India).

Luiana Partial Reserve |
Reserve in the Kuando Kubango province, situated west of the Sioma Ngwezi National Park in Zambia and north of the Babwata National Park in Namibia. The Kwando river and Luiana river with large marshy areas are parts of the reserve.
The Luiana reserve was heavily mined during the civil war.
