Wildlife in Africa
The oryx antelope comes in four subspecies. The one that inhabits southern Africa is called Gemsbok.
This animal is very well adopted to dry climates and may survive for several days without water.
The Gemsbok can be found in reserves like the Kgalagadi transfrontier park (South Africa and Botswana) and in Namibia, Angola and possible Zimbabwe.

These antelopes might stand on their hind legs only when feeding on tree leaves. They rarely drink water since the needed water is provided through the plants they eat.
Giraffe antelopes have been observed in Ethiopia, in Somalia, in Tsavo, Masai Mara, Samburu and Buffalo springs reserves, Kenya and in Tarangire national park, Tanzania,

Angola At about twice the size of Texas, Angola is among the larger countries of Africa.
Angola has an Atlantic ocean coastline of apprx. 1650 km with quite a few beaches and where several large rivers flows into the sea. The coastal strip stretching from Namibia in the south to Luanda is an arid one, but the interior highland is humid.
Located in a sub-tropical zone, Angola has two distinct seasons - the dry and the rainy season.
Unfortunately, due to the large numbers of land mines left after the war in Angola, many areas are inaccessible and safaris are difficult. Nevertheless, several safari-operators offers safaris to various parks and wilderness areas in this exciting part of Arica.
