Angola
At about twice the size of Texas, Angola is among the larger countries of Africa.
Angola has an Atlantic ocean coastline of apprx. 1650 km with quite a few beaches and where several large rivers flows into the sea. The coastal strip stretching from Namibia in the south to Luanda is an arid one, but the interior highland is humid.
Located in a sub-tropical zone, Angola has two distinct seasons - the dry and the rainy season.
Unfortunately, due to the large numbers of land mines left after the war in Angola, many areas are inaccessible.

Bicuar National Park |
Situated in the Huila province along the Osse river. Riverine woodland and dry grassland is common. This park has elephants but poaching is a problem.

Cameia National Park lies in the Moxico province of Angola, where it partly borders the Chifumage river to the east and the Lumege river and the Luena river to the south west.

Cangandala National Park and the wilderness of Luando Strict Nature Reserve are home to the giant sable antelope, which is unique to Angola.

Iona National Park |
Iona National Park is located between the Curoca river and the Cunene river in south-western Angola and is known for the flora and rock formations found there. The park is contiguous with the Skeleton Coast National Park in Namibia and is one of Angolas important bird areas.

Kissama/Quicama National Park |
The Kissama National Park is situated between the Cuanza river in the north and the Longa river in the south. The Atlantic ocean forms the 120 km long western boundary for the park.
Kissama is a park with large grasslands, tree savanna and dense thicket.

Luando Total Nature Reserve |
The Luando reserve, originally created to preserve the giant sable antelope, has the Luando river as a norhtern and eastern boundary, the Cuanza river as the western boundary and the Luasso river as the southern boundary.
Luando hosts the 107 m high Duke de Braganza falls, a spectacular waterfall on the Lucala river in Angola.

Luiana Partial Reserve |
Reserve in Kuando Kubango province, situated west of the Sioma Ngwezi National Park in Zambia and north of Babwata National Park in Namibia. The Kwando river and Luiana river with large marshy areas are parts of the reserve.
The Luiana reserve was heavily mined during the civil war.
