Short history:
1948:April - Tsavo national park with an area of nearly 22000 sq. km is announced.
1948:May - 1 month later the park is divided into the Tsavo east and the Tsavo west. The dividing line is the Nairobi / Mombasa railway.
1957:Hunting is banned in Tsavo national park.

Outside the Tsavo West np
Tsavo west np is situated in south-east Kenya, along the Kenya / Tanzania border. Just over the border in Tanzania lies the Mkomazi game reserve.
Then clockwise, the Chyulu Hills np and the Tsavo east np with the South Kitui national reserve.
