Kenya is situated on the equator, along the Indian ocean, in eastern Africa and share borders with 5 other countries: namely, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania.
The country enjoys a tropical climate with three climatic regions: The warm and humid coast, the dry and dusty plains and the Kenyan highlands.
Savannas, wildlife safaris, the Great rift valley and the beaches of the indian ocean are highlights much sought by visitors.
Kenya hosts a large number of National Parks and game reserves. The Tsavo national park is the largest park in Kenya and widely known for "The man-eaters of Tsavo" which is an more than 100 years old incidence about lions attacking humans during the building of the Nairobi - Mombasa railway.
Today, no man-eaters are left but herds of elephants and other wildlife.
Amboseli is a smaller national park (392 sq. km) that lies on the Tanzania border and is close to mt. Kilimanjaro. During early morning hours there is a chance of getting a really nice view of the mountain. Amboseli is a good place to see elephants. Indeed, some of the elephants here have very impressive tusks. Other species living in the Amboseli are buffalo, zebra, antelopes.

Further to the west along the Kenya/Tanzania border lies the Masai Mara reserve. Masai Mara is contiguous with the Serengeti National Park on the Tanzanian side.
The nearly endless plains in this area of Africa are the scene of the great migration:
Every year more than 1,2 million wildebeast along with 200 000 zebra and 300 000 Thomsons gazelle migrate along a 2900 km trek, in search of food and water.
A number of predators - lions, cheetahs, hyenas, eagles and nile crocodiles awaits them along the path. This is the largest of three large migrations found in Africa. The other two migrations is the migration at Linyanti, Botswana and the wildebeest migration at Liuwa Plains in Zambia.
Not far from Masai Mara is the Lake Nakuru National Park which is one of the Great rift valley soda lakes. It is known for the countless numbers of flamingos nestling and feeding there. The park is also a sanctuary for the black rhino and a number of giraffes.
