Short history:
1970: Established concurrently with the Nxai game reserve as the Makgadikgadi game reserve.
1992: Boundaries were adjusted and made contiguous with the Nxai game reserve. Makgadikgadi game reserve were given national park status

Wildlife in Makgadikgadi
Some mammals: lion, hyena, jackal, gemsbok, zebra, wildebeest, eland, Kalahari impala (springbok), cheetah, leopard, wild dog.
Some birds: the greater and the lesser flamingo;

Outside the Makgadikgadi np
Makgadikgadi np is situated southeast of the Okavango delta, in the wilderness of the Kalahari desert.
Immediately to the north lies the Nxai Pan np, to the south-west: The Central Kalahari game reserve - one of the largest game reserves in Africa.

Short history:
1970: A 1676 sq. km wilderness area is established as the Nxai game reserve.
1992: Boundaries are extended to the south to include Kudiakam Pan and the Baines Baobabs. The total area grows to 2578 sq. km and the Nxai game reserve becomes the Nxai national park.

Nxai Pan np is situated in a vast wilderness area in northern Botswana.
To the south lies the Makgadikgadi Pans np, In the north: Chobe np, eventually the Caprivi strip, Namibia and Zambia with the Mosi-o-Tunya np, To the east Zimbabwe and Hwange np.
